River Tummel, Perthshire, Scotland

The lower reaches of the River Tummel may be short at only 5 miles, but it can be considered as one of the best locations in Scotland to target Spring run Atlantic Salmon on the fly.

This fast flowing freestone tailwater is perfectly sized for 14-15ft Spey Rods and produces a good number of Spring Salmon of 10lbs – 20lbs, usually fresh off the tide. With heavy spring flows, sunk line tactics are the most effective. Heavy lines, long casts and deep wading make for an exhausting day but the rewards are magnificent.

The effective season is very short at only four to six weeks and we offer a very limited number of guided days during this time.
